At eight years old in Jamaica, Lucean made her first sandals out of cardboard. She didn’t know it then, but that childhood curiosity started a lifelong path.

Years later, while raising her son and attending college in Kingston, she returned to creating. With no formal training, she taught herself shoemaking through YouTube, guidance from local craftsmen, and countless hours of trial and error.

In 2015, that persistence became Lucy Sandals JA. Starting with just two designs, her handmade sandals soon reached women around the world.

In April 2024, the brand evolved into Lucean Knecole—a name that made it unmistakably her own.

Today, every pair is still brought to life by hand, one at a time. The subtle differences make each sandal unique, reflecting both the hands that crafted it and the woman who wears it.

For Lucean, it has always been about more than footwear. It is a connection between the little girl who turned cardboard into shoes and the woman who never stopped building her dream with her own hands—a reminder that every step matters.
