At just eight years old, Lucean made her first pair of sandals from cardboard. She couldn’t have known it then, but that simple childhood creation would become the beginning of a lifelong passion.

Born and raised in Jamaica, Lucean’s journey into shoemaking took an unexpected path. Years later, while raising her son and attending college in Kingston, she found her way back to creating. With no formal training, she taught herself the art of shoemaking through YouTube, the guidance of local craftsmen, and countless hours of practice, patience, and experimentation.

In 2015, that passion took shape as Lucy Sandals JA. Beginning with just two designs, her handcrafted creations gradually found their way to women around the world.

In April 2024, the brand entered a new chapter, becoming Lucean Knecole, a name that reflected the woman, the hands, and the vision behind every creation.

Today, each pair is still thoughtfully handcrafted by Lucean, one at a time. No two pairs are exactly alike. Subtle variations are part of the handmade process, giving every creation its own character and making each pair uniquely yours.

For Lucean, this has always been about more than footwear. It is a story of creativity, determination, and the beauty of building something with your own hands. A journey that began with a little girl turning cardboard into sandals and continues with a woman who never stopped believing in what she could create.
